The Brief
Union Sportive de Saint-André (USSA) is a sports association based in Lille, France. In 1997 the President and the steering committee of USSA Football decided to take on the challenge of bringing to the city some of the biggest football clubs in Europe, and created a tournament for under 17 and a dedicated committee for the tournament called COTIF - Comité Organisateur du Tournoi International de Football.
The tournament is right now on their 24th edition, and already counted with the participation of 105 teams from over 25 countries all over the world, and some of the world’s finest football players.
#mkt has been challenged to create a brand new website for the tournament, that should be modern and inclusive by allowing easy navigation to all users, and with the aim to get an even greater range of teams the following edition.
The Process
As the tournament already has such a large and impressive history, we wanted to showcase that so people would be as impressed as we were. So we collected as much data as possible so we could use it throughout the website.
Once we gathered the majority of the relevant content we started designing the website using Adobe XD. Due to the tight deadline we’ve had to restructure our internal processes so whenever the design of a page and content would be approved, we’d start developing right away. This layering and multitasking approach saved us an incredible amount of time and was crucial to our success.
Once we got the website fully developed in one language, with the engaging effects and optimised imagery, we then went ahead and created several duplicates of it as the website needed to be available in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
The Results
The tournament not only managed to get some great new teams participating, but they also had to refuse others as they already had all available spots filled in.
